Compositec was created in 1991 as an advanced composite materials technology service for industry.
A composite material can be defined as ‘the assembly of two or more materials, the final assembly having higher properties than the properties of each constitutive material’.
Compositec can provide 4 types of composite materials service:
- Sandwich courses: Courses leading to the title of ‘Project Manager in composite materials’
- Continuing vocational training: Provided with respect to composite materials technologies either at Compositec or in the place of work
- Technical services: Feasibility studies into composite materials solutions for product and/or manufacturing problems
- R&D: R&D at Compositec is geared to the needs of manufacturers in continuous fibre TP, and SMC/BMC composite materials (compounds) which are moulded and heat-hardened for use in diverse sectors such as automotive structural or bodywork components, electrical/electronic machine housings, sanitary ware and urban furniture.
Compositec specializes in particular the use of natural fibres and polymers and in the large scale recycling and re-use of composite materials such as glass fibre. Compositec is the lead organization in the Rhône-Alpes RECYCOMP composites recycling project which involves a wide range of large industrial companies such as Saint Gobain and Ashland Polyester.
