Savoie district is located in the Alps between the cities of Lyon and Grenoble in France and Geneva in Switzerland. These cities are among Europe’s leading economic centres.
In France, Lyon and the region in which it is located, Rhône-Alpes, is second only to the Paris region in terms of economic scale and is home to significant industrial concentrations in the mechanical engineering, textiles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and health sectors.
Grenoble, also in Rhône-Alpes, is home, among others, to Minalogic, one of France’s flagship ‘competitiveness clusters’ which is specialized in micro and nano-technologies.
Less than an hour away just over the Swiss border Geneva’s economy is financial services oriented; it is home to numerous international organizations, such as the UN, and corporate head offices, and the city is Switzerland’s main university centre.
Savoie’s economy can in many ways be seen as part of this wider European zone but this forested alpine region also has its distinctiveness, which is the basis for the development strategy pursued by Savoie Technolac. Our main objective is to develop five target industry sectors in which our park already possesses strength in depth. These are:
- Solar energy and environmentally sound technologies
- Information, electronic and communication technologies
- Design and production of industrial equipments
- Plastics and composite materials
- Moutain economy
We are also actively involved in the five national competitiveness clusters which are government initiated collaborative hubs driven between research and industries:
- Tennerdis: new and renewable energies
- Imaginove: digital and media content
- Plastipolis: plastics and composite materials
- Sporaltec: sports and leisure
- Techtera: functional and technical textiles
Let us invite you to discover an overview of the Savoie Technolac Science and Technology Park’s major residents and activities, in particular details of business networking and science and industry cluster initiatives currently being implemented and supported at the local level.
