Lisa Airplanes _ A unique joint venture: Superyachts and Planes landing on water, stowed at sea

Danish Yacht and LISA Airplanes are pleased to announce their collaboration, in the first of their plans to develop new projects and provide additional benefits and initiatives to superyacht owners and captains. Danish Yacht, a modern superyacht shipyard located in Skagen in Denmark, and LISA Airplanes are exploring the market of combining superyachts and light airplanes, providing what could soon become an essential and unique resource to the global superyacht community. The LISA ‘AKOYA’ aircraft features folding wings. Each wing is able to individually rotate aft on the airplane, providing easy stowage on the deck of any superyacht. With low fuel consumption, the lightweight AKOYA is ideal.

Join Our CleanTech Business Incubator
The Incubator’s new premises, specifically dedicated to innovative enterprises in the new and renewable energy sources sector, with particular focus on solar businesses, will be inaugurated this autumn. A multi-functional building, where reception/event areas, modular offices and workshops, and areas for demonstrations and project presentations are available in order to resolve the logistical problems new innovative companies sometimes face.. As well as providing premises, the incubation programme includes customized coaching, financial engineering and technical support, in cooperation with the Savoie CleanTech Business Angels and the National Institute for Solar Energy which is ideally located just across from the Incubator. So far, two companies have graduated from the programme and the Solar Business Incubator concept has just won the European Business Network (EBN) competition in the category “Small but global business”.
Sobesol joins the Fugro group
After many years as part of the ARCADIS group, SOBESOL has just joined the FUGRO group (www.fugro.fr), which means that it will have new development conditions in a particularly suitable environment, entirely dedicated to geotechnics and more generally to sciences relating to the earth’s surface and crust.
FUGRO is a multinational group of engineering consultancy firms headquartered in the Netherlands, and the world leader in the field of geosciences. FUGRO is present in 60 countries, with a total staff of more than 10,000.

Solar energy in the headlines with Solar Event
Savoie Technolac has just hosted the International Solar Event on the 27th, 28th and 29th of June. The 1rst edition of this happening occasion was intended for both businesses and the general public, with more than 15,000 visitors from all over the world. It consisted of a “solar energy and buildings” trade fair; numerous exhibitions in the inventors’ corner such as, Solar Impulse, the prototype aircraft, promoted by the famous Swiss balloonist, Bertrand Piccard; solar-powered cars and models of race- cars  and demonstrations of solar-powered boats on the Le Bourget Lake.
The European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) took advantage of the Solar Event to hold their Annual General Meeting, which reunited the major stakeholders of the global PV sector in order to discuss potential growth of the French PV market.

4th international eco-construction day

Savoie Technolac constantly strives to go one step further to, promote the construction of exemplary passive or positive energy status buildings and to contribute in increasing the use of renewable energies. More than 120 people, including representatives of the Pennsylvania Governor's Green Government Council and the German Companies SCHUCO and SCHWÖRER HAUS, attended the conference “Green is business or not?” organized on the site on the 29th of April. This 4th edition was an opportunity to alert French manufacturers, especially those in the traditional sector, about the race that is underway with foreign competitors.

Cleaner Mobility Plan
The Savoie Technolac Inter-company mobility plan - “Mobilac” - is a programme of action to accompany the resident organisations in changing their transport habits. The aim is to encourage people to choose alternative, cleaner modes of transport than cars for travel between home and work and work-related travel. All the actions are geared towards optimising public transport, car sharing, the setting up of a car pool, encouraging the use of bicycles and walking and the improvement of services during the lunch break.

New crèche for resident companies

A new inter-company crèche was inaugurated with 55 places for children between 2½ months and three years old. Some of the staff are English-speaking, to facilitate the integration of foreign residents. This is a first in France, as the service is primarily intended for very small companies located within the park.
TTV – Savoie Technolac television channel
With a view to encouraging closer relations between industry and academia, by promoting local technical and scientific skills to companies, training institutions and the public institutions, a Technolac TV theme channel devoted to higher education and research has been inaugurated. This local digital channel will be run by students and teachers at the Université de Savoie and its 19 laboratories.
New business space available in the of GA group’s property programme
The GA group is developing a promotional new generation office building called Homère. This trial building is fully aligned with the policy of favouring sustainable development, particularly through the use of photovoltaic panels in roofing and innovative facilities in terms of energy savings. Scheduled completion: autumn 2008.

RocTool steps up the pace
The specialist in composite moulding technologies, RocTool, announced that it has successfully carried out a private placement amongst qualified investors, in the form of a €3.2 million capital increase. Almost 600,000 new shares were issued, at a price of €5.40 per share, within the framework of a capital increase associated with a listing on the Euronext Paris Marché Libre. This funding will enable RocTool to launch new technologies, continue to invest in R&D and broaden the patents portfolio, and set up technology Pilots in Europe, the USA and Japan. The first round the world tour in a solar aircraft - Hy-Bird

Lisa Airplanes, manufacturers of the Akoya leisure ULM aircraft which can take off and land on the ground, water and snow, are currently working on a new aircraft called the Hy-Bird, which runs on renewable energies. Hy-Bird could be the first “clean” two-seater airplane to fly right round the globe. The prototype is currently being produced in the workshop at Savoie Technolac. Hollywood star Leonardo Di Caprio has already given the aircraft a mention in his documentary, "the eleventh hour", presenting it as one of the solutions for combating global warming.
